It is finished
My move is done. I turned in the keys to the old place on Monday, and the last pieces of furniture was brought up on Tuesday. No more carrying things up the stairs to my second floor walk-up.
It feels good to be done with that part of the move. Now I just have to figure out where to put everything since I downsized and don't have nearly as much storage space as before.
It's been an exhausting 2 months, and a lot of things kept falling to the wayside because I just didn't have the energy. Like dishes, and blogging, and reading, and writing. But now that I'm done, and once I get everything situated (at least for the time being), then I can really get back into the swing of things. I have big plans1 I want to be working on.
Oops
I almost accidentally shoplifted yesterday evening. I was tired, but I had to get batteries, so I went to the local Big Box Store and got a few things. At the self-checkout, one of the teachers at my school was also there and we got talking, and I bagged my things, then she finished her transaction and started leaving, so I started leaving since we were still talking, and I got all the way to my car before realizing, "wait a second, I never opened my wallet. I don't have a receipt. Did I walk away without paying???"
I hustled back in and thankfully the self-checkout stand I was at hadn't been touched yet, so I quickly paid and hustled back out again, this time with a receipt.
It reminded me of the concept of habits and repetitive actions becoming so ingrained in our brains that sometimes it's hard to figure out if we're remembering doing the thing because we just did it, or because we always do the same thing. Like taking medicine or washing hair. Did I just wash my hair or am I remembering yesterday?
Chaotic start to the year
It's the first week of school. This is my third year here, and this has been the most chaotic. My first year was trial by fire, starting just 3 days before the school year began, last year went pretty smooth, but this year was a mess. So messy that I am still behind on a lot of work like registering new students. This Friday there is no school for the students but I have to work, so I'm hopeful that I can get caught up, but I feel like this year I've started on the back foot and I hope that's not the tone for the whole year.
